Dealing with Violence in Schools
$330
4.5 CEUs
Teachers, administrators, and school boards are facing an increase in violence in their schools while attempting to deal with more and more regulations and legal problems. This course will provide insights on some of the major sources of violence including gangs and bullying. It will also provide information on how educators around the country deal with the problems. While providing information on how to identify potential problems before they become major issues, the course will help educators know how to educate and organize the student body to become part of the solution instead of the problem, and how to develop plans for communicating with parents, law enforcement, media and other community groups. The course project, a web quest, can focus on student involvement, presentations to community groups, or recommendations to governing boards and legislators.
